Malicious Women Co. handcrafted soy candles are natural and burn cleaner than traditional paraffin candles. The scented, creamy soy wax is hand-poured into a vintage apothecary-style recyclable jar. After approximately 45 hours of burn time or when the candle wax burns down to 1/4" from the bottom of the jar, simply melt the remaining soy wax in very hot water and wipe clean. Visit our FAQ page to learn all the tips & tricks to ensure you get ALL 45 hours of burn time from your new candle.

Before the first light, make sure you have 3-4 hours available for the candle to burn while attended. We know it is exciting to want to light your candle right away, but this is the most important step! We suggest you choose an evening that doesn’t require interruption or on a weekend while watching the game or reading a book. It is supposed to be a relaxing experience anyway. Keep your wick trimmed to 1/4”. Occasionally, mushrooming may occur. This is okay and simply means that there is a build-up of carbon or a draft. After the candle is extinguished, allow wick to harden and carefully trim to 1/4”. Do not allow wick trimming to fall into wax, as this can create a fire hazard. It’s just not good candle care. Soy candle wax has what’s called a memory. That means that when you burn a soy candle and then extinguish it, the next time you burn it, the soy candle wax will melt across as far as it did the first time. This is why it is so important to allow soy candles to burn all the way across to the edge of the container the first time you burn it before putting it out. This ensures that your soy candle does not “tunnel” as it burns, leaving wax along the sides of the container. A good rule of thumb is to burn your candle 1 hour for every inch wide that the candle is. So if you have a 3 inch wide soy candle, you may need to burn it for at least 3 hours for a good melt pool.
I get this question all the time and it is an important one. We use a premium blend of Grade A synthetic and natural fragrances in all our candles, as they 1) allow me to create my own signature scents; 2)allow us to offer MWCC candles at an affordable price point of $22. Our oils are vegan and cruelty-free. Further, I fly to my scent suppliers every year to blend my own scents with the help of their lab technicians. It is my most favorite trip of the year! You will not find any other scents that smell like mine in another candle line.
Our products were designed to empower - not overpower - your day. Because of this, their scent throw will be more intimate than other products on the market that are blended with paraffin or other additives and stabilizers. We don't use any of that shit in our candles! Our candles are designed to scent a medium sized room with pure maliciousness.
When you've reached the sad end of your Malicious Women candle, you can reuse the jar! Simply remove the wick, rinse the jar in hot water, and wipe clean. Try to avoid getting the label wet or rubbing the label when it is wet, as the label may become damaged.
You may also refill your jar in any scent with one of our refill kits available... CLICK HERE FOR REFILL KIT.

Our Refill & Melt-N-Pour DIY candle kits offer all the fun of candle making, without all the stress and mess. In just under 30 mins, you will have 4 candles offering up to 100 hours of burn time or a refilled candle for 40 more hours of burn time.
Step 1: Read This
Our DIY candle kits are ONLY meant for our candle jars and tins. The wicks have been tested to burn properly for our jars and tins. (Note: The wicks for the refill and DIY kits are different and can't be used interchangeably). If you chose to refill a container other than ours, there is no guarantee the candle will burn properly or that it will not tunnel. All containers must be tested for proper wick size.
Place the double-sided wick sticker on the bottom of the metal wick tab and affix the wick to the bottom of the container. This must be placed exactly in the center or your candle will not burn properly. An off-center wick will cause tunneling or if the flame is too close to the glass the candle jar may crack, causing a giant mess or possible fire.
Step 2: Melt
Take the lid off the Melt-N-Pour container and microwave for 1 min 30 seconds. Watch your wax carefully. Add 15 - 30 seconds at a time, if the wax hasn't fully melted, Give it a few stirs. Melt the wax until it starts to turn clear. Do not overheat the wax or you will burn off the fragrance oil. (Kinda defeats the purpose) Your wax should be apx. 120-140 degrees max!
Step 3: Stir
Remove wax from the microwave with a potholder. The wax container may be hot. Allow the wax to cool until it gets a tiny bit cloudy (technical term). Give the wax a little stir - this wax rinses right off in hot water, so feel free to use a teaspoon.
Step 4: Pour
Carefully fill the jar or tin into the pour line. Do not over-fill.
Step 5: Set
The wick can be set once the candle slightly cools and starts to become solid. Insert the wick into the metal spring of the clothespin. While opening the clothespin, fold the wick over and grasp the wick in the teeth of the clothespin.
This will keep the wick from moving during the curing process. Candles can be moved after one hour.
Allow 48 hours before burning or trimming the wick to 1/4 inch with scissors. This will allow you to fix the wick if it does go off-center during curing. See below for tips on how to fix this.
Note: Candles are best poured in a 65-75 degree room. A cold room will cause ugly tops and air pockets because the wax is cooling too quickly. Never put a curing candle in the refrigerator.
On the flip side, pouring candles in a room that is too hot will delay curing and you will lose fragrance strength.
Fun Fact- Fragrance oil is always evaporating while the candle wax is liquid. That is what the flame does, it melts the wax to release the fragrance. This is why it is always recommended to use the lid of the candle to put the candle out. The lid will trap the fragrance in the wax until the candle hardens again.
If you find you have an ugly candle top, simply remelt the top of the candle with a heat gun, like an embossing craft heat gun. Try to avoid melting too much, 1/4" is plenty to fix an ugly top.
If you find your wick moved during curing and it is no longer in the center of the container, it can be fixed.
Simply turn your oven on to warm (no more than 200 degrees and put your candle in the oven for about 15 mins to soften the wax. using pliers, grab the wick and pull it to the center of the container. The melted wax will fill in the hole created by dragging the wick. Please be careful. It is so easy to lose the grip with the pliers and slip off the wick. This creates a huge mess when you knock over or drop the candle. Make sure your grip is secure and tight.
New 9 oz: Burn Time Approximately 40-50 Hours *Burn times vary depending on the environment your candle is placed in. Drafts, temperature and trimming of your wick can affect the life of your candle.
