THANK YOU! To every single one of you who showed up for the Feed the Flame fundraiser,  you didn’t just light candles, you helped feed people. We sold 509 candles, and so many of you bought more than one, shared the mission, and made it clear that our community gives a damn. Because of you, we were able to donate $2,545 to Feeding America, which provided 25,450 meals to those who needed them most. I’m so grateful to be in this fight with you. (The receipt is attached at the very bottom of this email).

We're Not Done!

Food banks are scraping empty shelves. Military families are unpaid. SNAP is days from being frozen. And Congress? Still collecting paychecks while so many are furlough, fired or working as indentured servants.  We’re extending our fundraiser one more week with
a little twist!

I was told I was “too political” last time. So I am turning it up a notch because I am petty like that!

What’s Actually Happening

This shutdown isn’t a “both sides” issue. Senate Democrats have brought 11 bills to the floor to reopen the government. Republicans blocked every single one. Meanwhile, 1.4 million federal workers are stuck unpaid or furloughed, and yet somehow, Congress keeps getting paid and fed while the rest of us are left scrambling.

So no, I will not tone it down. And yes, I did put a facepalming Lady Liberty on a candle label because honestly, same girl.

Relaunching: Candle for the Frontline (Shutdown 2025
Edition)

Back in 2019, we launched this program to get candles into the hands of furloughed or unpaid federal workers. This year, we’re doing it again. Bigger, bolder, and backed by an army of malicious misfits. It’s a way to send a little light to people in a really dark situation.

How It Works

1. Buy the Government Shutdown Candle for yourself or to donate to a Federal worker.

If you want to donate a candle to a Federal government worker, it must be purchased as a separate order. One candle per order. We cannot split or combine donated candles with other purchases.

1. We’ll match your donated candle to a Federal worker from our list (collected from public nominations and self-nominations)
2. $5 from every candle sold goes to Feeding America to support food banks across the country, no matter who the candle ships to include a personal message or send it anonymously, your choice.
3. We handle the shipping and the matching,  you light the spark.
